When are you open?
Trading hours vary slightly from branch to branch, so it's best to check our homepage.
Are there vegan options available?
Definitely, we carry a solid selection of vegan-friendly items across all our locations including our best selling banana bread.
What's behind having two branches in Catford?
Our love for Catford, combined with growing interest in what we offer, meant a single shop couldn't keep up. Running two locations lets us stay woven into the community and be more accessible to the people around us.
Besides coffee, what's on offer?
Our range extends well past coffee, think local wines, seasonal hampers, and merchandise celebrating Catford itself.
Can I get online while I'm there?
Yes, complimentary Wi-Fi is on hand in-store, ideal for settling in with a drink while you work or scroll.
Can I work from the space?
Yes, you're more than welcome to. That said, we do have a policy in place: regardless of how much you spend, the maximum time we allow guests to stay is two hours. The reason is simply about fairness. At Doggett Road with have we only have seven seats and at Rushey Green we only have eight seats. With so few tables, it wouldn't be fair on other customers if someone sat there all day. So we kindly ask everyone to respect the two-hour limit, so there's a fair chance for everyone to grab a seat.
Can your shops be booked for private events?
Not at the moment, we don't currently offer our spaces for hire.
How did Servesmiths come about?
Before Servesmiths existed, we were Team Catford, an initiative focused on placemaking and shining a light on this area we adore.
Once that project wound down, we channelled the same energy into launching Servesmiths, still centred on bringing people together, strengthening community ties, and continually improving the neighbourhood we call home.
What did Team Catford actually involve?
Quite a lot! Alongside running House of Catford, a space showcasing local Catford merchandise, we were also launched Catford Food Market, the Catford Vegan Festival, and the Catford Beer Festival. It was all about celebrating the area and bringing the community together.
What's the thinking behind your Catford merchandise?
It comes down to a real fondness for SE6. When launched House of Catford, we designed and produced all of the branded goods ourselves and produced the Catford Cookbook. We just love Catford, so we carried on designing and making things, including our Catford Condiments and Catford Gin.
We'll also be reprinting the Catford Cat tea towel just in time for Christmas.
Why do most of your suppliers come from South East London?
Because that's exactly where we're from, born and bred. We were born, went to school, worked, and have lived our whole lives along the 185 bus route!
We love south east London and we'd never leave, it's why we celebrate it through everything we do, from our suppliers to our staff, all of whom live and work right here in the borough.
Anything special planned for the festive season?
This year's shaping up to be a big one. Having just obtained an alcohol licence for our Rushey Green branch, we're introducing a curated wine range from a local supplier, plus hampers perfect for gifting.
Are you hiring?
We don't currently have any vacancies, but we're always on the lookout for good people to join us. For us, it's not just about coffee, it's about character, so our team tends to be a kind, honest, charming with real integrity and a strong work ethic. If that sounds like you, feel free to send your CV to hello@servesmiths.com.
